Octavio Paz ,Mexican Poet,Essayist,Political Thinker,Diplomat and Nobel Winning Author, Is unarguably regarded as one of the best authors of 20th-Cent. ,who skillfully explored human existence in its varied perspectives and perceptions through his great works of poetry n prose!
Paz is viewed as one of the most authentic literary figures of modern times who keeps pushing linguistic boundaries and all through his writing career,tried to capture the possibilities inherent in words n language.
Born In Mexico and having spent great deal of times touring the world as lectures,diplomat,cultural ambassador. . .et.al , remained primarily a mexican dissecting the MEXICAN IDENTITY with the help of many disciplines like History, Anthropology,Religions,Philosophy n others.
His fine sense of bringing the past into the analyses of the present,makes him one of the top modernist authors .
LABYRINTHS OF THE SOLITUDE, DRAFT OF SHADOWS, CONFIGURATIONS, CONVERGENCES, WILD MOON, EAST SLOPES, THE MONKEY GRAMMARIAN. . . . .are some of his most admired works.
He also founded many literary n Mainstream Magazines and had done tremendously in encouraging newer talents via providing such literary platforms to them.
Octavio Paz Was Also A Journalist At His Start And Showed his likings for the Leftist Political Ideology And Such Political Quest Had Led Him To Participate In The Spanish Civil-War of 1937 wherein he, like many noted contemporary authors of his time(. .PABLO NERUDA was the foremost inspiration), whole heartedly supported the Republicans.
Sadly, and inevitably too, Octavio Paz Became Disheartened Plus Disappointed,(If not disillusioned completely), With The Real Workings Of The Leftists In Forms Of The Excesses They Had Wrecked !
Octavio Paz Got Many International Awards,Chief Amongst Them Are: CERVANTES AWARD, JERUSALEM PRIZE and The NOBEL FOR LITERATURE( 1990 ).
He died of Cancer at the age of 84 in 1998.
