The CONSTITUENT-ASSEMBLY,dominated by the ISLAMISTS, has approved THE NEWLY WRITTEN CONSTITUTION OF EGYPT within a hectic schedule of around 16hrs. !Since Thursday Afternoon To Today's Morning,The 85 Members Present And Voting,Have Given A Go Ahead Sign To The Final Draft Of The Egyptian Constitution Comprising A Total Of 234 Articles !
The Original Constituent Assembly Had 100 Members.There Are Around 30 Members Who Boycotted The Nature Of Its Composition And The Dominance Of The Islamists !They Are Largely Liberals and Minorities Who Withdrew From The Original Constituent Assembly Citing What They Described As 'THE HIJACKING OF EGYPTIAN CONSTITUTION MAKING PROCESS BY THE ISLAMISTS MEMBERS largely hailing from Muslim Brotherhood.These People Expressed Their Doubts Plus Fear Regarding The Islamization Of The Constitution And The Ignorings Of The Minorities,Women,Christians . . ..et.al ! They Lamented Over The Non-Secular Character Of The Proposed Constitution !
Their Apprehensions Proved Right Today !
The Now 85 Members Assembly Has No Christian Member and Only Three Women!
The Newly Approved Constitution Has Clearly Laid Down That The Guiding Principle Behind The Egyptian Constitution Will Be 'SHARIA' or The ISLAMIC LAW and JURISPRUDENCE! And,if any confusion arises regarding any clauses of Sharia,Then The Most Honored Islamic Institution Of Egypt,The 'AL-AZHAR' Shall Be Consulted And The Rendered Opinion Thereof Shall Be Binding In Nature !
SIMPLY PUT, IT MEANS THERE ARE CURTAILMENTS OF THE POWER OF THE LEGISLATURE. . ..because the chances of the LEGISLATIVE OVERSIGHT will be zero !
The Secular,The Liberals,The Human Rights Groups And Others Have Strongly Criticised Such Constitution !
This Constitution Has Not Any Article Vesting THE LAW OF EQUALITY between MAN and WOMAN !It means that there is going to be more stricter regimentation of the fair-sex!And,That's A Clear Cut Violation Of Human Rights,rather,THE TRUE DEMOCRATIC ETHOS PLUS ESSENCE GET DEFEATED !
Now The Constitution Goes To The Desk Of The Egyptian President,Mr. Mohammed Morsi For His Assent .And,as per reports in the media,This Takes Place Tomorrow And As Per The Expectations,Mohammed Morsi Will Sign This So Called Sacrosanct Document,The Constitution!
All This Will Be Completed By Tomorrow i.e. SATURDAY !
And,According To The Rule,Within 30 days From The Time Of President's Signature,TheDocument Will Be Put To The REFERRENDUM or PLEBISCITE !
The President's Spokesman as well as a few Brotherhood Members, Say That The Required Referrendum Shall Be Completed By The Mid December !
THE WHOLE AFFAIRS SEEM TO BE KIND OF A 'RUSHING-THROUGH' ACT AND THIS IN ITSELF CASTS DOUBTS ON THE INTENTIONS OF THE ISLAMISTS HEADED POLITICALLY BY MR.MORSI !
The Members Of The Newly Created NATIONAL SALVATION FRONT comprised of all the diverse groups that stood against the undemocratic POWER-GRAB by Mr. Morsi, Have Been Camping At The Symbol Of The Arab Spring,THE TAHRIR SQUARE, For a week and Their Resolve Appears Firmer And Unshakeable At Present!
THEY SAY THEY WILL LEAVE THE SQUARE ONLY WHEN MR. MORSI RESCIND AND REVOKE THE DECREE AND A NEW ASSEMBLY BE CONSTITUTED THAT COULD REFLECT SORT OF RAINBOW NATURE INSTEAD OF ONLY ONE HUE,THE ISLAMISTS !
Uncertainty And Chaos Are The Presiding Dieties At Present !
Also,The Supreme Judicial Body, The Constitutional Court, Is Going To Give Its Judgement Regarding The Question Of LEGITIMACY or Otherwise Of The Constituent-Assembly That Had Dubious Distinctions Of Coloring The Constitution As Per Their Whims n Fancy !
The Appellate Court Had Been Approached By Many People Including Those Liberal n Secular Members Of The Said Assembly Who Boycotted The Workings Claiming The The Thoroughly Partisan Attitudes Of The Islamists !
Expectations Are High That The Apex Court Will Disapprove Of The Legality Of The Constituent Assembly And Will Declare It Null n Void !
What Will Happen Then ? Where Shall Go The Weight Of The Decree Of Morsi - which has already been dismissed by the judiciary on account of Interference With The Power And Function Of The Judiciary !
STAKES ARE HIGH ! EGYPT'S AIR IS LADEN WITH SUSPICION AND SUSPENSE ! THERE IS BOUND TO BE SOME THRILLER PRETTY SOON !
AND, AMID ALL THESE HOTCH-POTCH, DEMOCRACY WILL BE A CASUALITY !
