HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ARTHUR MILLER,EMINENT AMERICAN PLAYWRIGHT !

''BETRAYAL IS THE ONLY TRUTH THAT STICKS !''

ARTHUR MILLER.

American Playwright Arthur Miller
Was Born This Day 17 October In
1915 In New York.

A Product of The Great Depression
Era, Arthur Miller , Through His
Plays, Kept Questioning The
Prevalent Mode of Captalist Society
And The Demeaning Features of
Modernity !

An Open Critic of The Anti-
Communist Wave of The United
States Government During The
Early Period of Cold War Era, Miller
Came Up With His Second Most
Popular Play, THE CRUCIBLE Wherein
He Drew An Analogy of Sorts
Between The Then Ongoing Anti-
Communist Policy Of The
Government That Saw A Repressive
Attitude Towards One n All Who
Were Sympathizing With
Communism n Its Votaries With
That Of A Witch Hunt In Salem In
Earlier Era!
The Play Saw Miller Gaining An
Instant Celebrity Status And Its
Consequential Persecution by The
Government. . .(Luckily Miller
Escaped The Punishment).

Master of Impressionism Plus
Realism, Miller Wrote His Most
Read , Critically Acclaimed And A
Must In College Syllabi Worldwide,
DEATH OF A SALESMAN.
The Play Is Technically Held As A
Model For Modern Realistic
Playwriting And A Fine Flagbearer
of The Tradition of Ibsen-often
held as the father of modern
drama!

A Poten Critic of The Myth of
American Dream, Miller Never Felt
Shy of Pointing Out The Hollowness
of This Dream And The Resultant
Collective Frustration Amongst The
Generations of 50s n 60s !

Married To The Hollywood Sex
Symbol, Marilyn Monroe, For 6yrs ,
Miller Had Had A Fondness For
Scriptwriting Too.After The End of
This Turbulent Relationship, Miller
Penned A Beautiful Play Titled
AFTER THE FALL !

Family Relationship Was a
Recurring Theme In His Plays.

ALL MY SONS and A VIEW FROM THE
BRIDGE are His Other Enduring
Plays.

Miller Remains A Powerful
Influence Even Today As His
Concerns Are As Relevant Today As
During His Time.

He Would Have Been 98 Today !

A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO
ARTHUR MILLER !

SYRIAN TURMOIL AND THE INTERNATIONAL RESPONSE!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Trapped In Power, Politics ,
Polemics and Possibilities, US
President Obama Still Exudes
Hopes For A Positive Nod From At
Least One Entity -CONGRESS, After
Having Witnessed The Negative
Nod From The International
Comity of Nations Against His
Proposal To Militarily Intervening
Syria In Order To Dismantle(if not
destroy) The Power of Bashar-al-
Assad And To Teach Him A
Lesson or Two Post His Use of
Chemical Weapons !!
The US CONGRESS Returns Today
After Recess And There Shall Be A
Stormy Session Over The Issue of
The Presidential Reference
Seeking Its Formal Authorization
To Intervene In Syrian Crisis In A
Selective Limited Military Attack!
John Kerry, The Seasoned Sec. Of
State, Is Returning
WashingtonDC. After Having
Spent Nearly A Week In Europe
Trying To Persuade Various
European Leaders To Support
Obama Administration's
Proposal ! John Kerry Did Extract
Virtually Nothing And Is
Returning Emptyhanded ! He Will
Be Briefing The Congress Putting
His Observations Regarding The
Proposal !
President Obama Is Expected To
Go Live Addressing The Nation
On Tuesday Evening !
Nancy Pelosi, The House
Democratic Leader , Who Has
Been Entrusted To Canvass
Supports From The Members of
The House of Representatives
Where The Republican Party Has
An Edge Numerically, Is
Reportedly Doing Her Best . . .YET,
QUITE SKEPTIC REGARDING A GO-
AHEAD FROM THE HOUSE !
Britain Made It Clear It Can't Do
Anything Except Extending Moral
Support To Mr. Obama's Plan For
The British Parliament Sort of
Vetoed Cameron Govt. Plan of
Joining Hands With The US Govt
In Attacking Syria !
Germany, Too, Showed Its 'Nay'
and It Had To. .as The General
Election Is Near And Merkel Fears
People's Wrath !
Only France And Netherland Are
Saying 'YES' !
By and Large , Obama Is Left
Alone To Act or Not To Act And
Legally No Rule National or
International Puts Any Fetters
Before Obama And Therefore Mr.
PRESIDENT IS ALMOST FREE TO
LISTEN TO HIS DISCRETION,IE NOT
CONSCIENCE, AND ACT
ACCORDINGLY !

TONY ABBOTT IS TO BECOME THE AUSTRALIAN PREMIER !

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
The Boxer Has Finally Delivered
His Deadly Punch And The Ring
Belongs To Him ! Tony Abbott,
55, Won The Australian Election
And Became The Premier Elect !
The Coalition Of The
Conservatives and The Liberals
Led By Mr. Abbott Rose To The
Occasion By Effecting A
Thrashing Defeat To The Long
Beleagured Erstwhile Ruling Party
- The Labor Party Led By Kevin
Rudd !
The Coalition Got Nearly 90 Seats
Against 54 of The Labors And
Thereby Secured A Clear Lead Fit
For Making A New Government
After 6yrs of Near Misgovernance
By Kevin n Julia -the odd couple
who have always been busy in
shoring up their own egos at the
cost of their party !
John Howard Is Cheering This
Victory Of The Coalition After 6yrs
It Has Been Out of Power. Rupert
Murdoch Threw Millions In Cash
And Directed His News Media To
Endorse Tony Who Is Seen As
Someone Who Would Give A Free
Rein To The Market Economy By
Curtailing A Slew of Taxes And
Inviting Corporate Houses From
Around The World Requesting
Them To Do Business In
Australia.
There Is Likely To No Tax On
Carbon Emissior or Carbon Tax !
It Was One Of The Vital Points On
The Poll Planks !
There Shall Be Certain Changes In
The Minning Sector Facilitating To
Re-establish The Minning Boom
That Got A Drubbing Under The
Six Year Rule of The Labor Party !
And, The Third Main Poll Plank
Was To Put A Tab On The
Growing Inflow of Illigal
Migrantes !
On All These Three Agendas That
Were A Common Reference In
Each Party’s Election Manifesto,
Tony Abbott Said After Having
Emerged As The Victor , That He
Would Kickstart His Plans From
Day One !
Tony Abbott, 55, Is A Former
Boxer And Rhodes Scholar .
. . . . . . . . . .(2.). . . . . . . .
The Labor Party Got Defeat As Per
The Anticipation ! The Main
Reason For This Is Inherent
Inside The Party Than The
Outside of It ! The Intra-Party-
Conflict Has Been So Pronounced
That It Has Had Its Toll On The
Voters Plus The Activists of The
Party! The Drama At The Top Has
Had The Blame!Kevin Rudd
Versus Julia Gillard Drama Yielded
This Outcome!Both of Them
Proved Myopic And Egotists And
Have Never Waited Even A Single
Moment In Letting People Know
Their Personal Clashes In
Clinching The Party Leadership
Post ! The Taxation Policy Did The
Rest !
Surprisingly, This Party Has Still To
Grapple With The Reality That It
Has Been Thrown Into ! Kevin
Rudd Has Had His Speech Post
The Electoral Results
And ,Though, It Was A Defeat
Conceding Occasion , Rudd Didn’t
Say He Led The Party To Such
Nosedive , Instead He Spoke
Happily That His Party Did
Unexpectedly Better And Showed
That It Could Still Be A Contestant
In Future ! The Speech Went For
22min. More Than That Of Mr.
Abbott’s Acceptance Speech !!
The Single Meaningful Point That
Mr. Kevin Rudd Said Was That The
Party Needed A New Leadership !
Yes, IT DOES !
Goodluck To Mr. PRIME-MINISTER-
ELECT, TONY ABBOTT !

THE SYRIAN PUZZLE AND THE INTERNATIONAL RESPONSE ! (part-I)

Syria Is The Flashpoint Of International Diplomacy These Days Especially After Some Partial Reports Of The Use Of Chemical Weapons By The Bashar al Assad's Regime Against Its Own People And Inside Their Own Country -- the death toll due to this is reportedly 1500(approx.) !

The International Community Has Expressed Profound Shock Over Such Heinous Acts Perpetrated By The Assad Regime And Is Full of Suspicions That The Use of Chemical Weapons Might Be Increased In Future If It Is Not Taken Seriously And The Punishments Not Given !
But, There Has Not Been Any Concerted Efforts Being Made To Address Such Issue of Urgency , Except A Few Brainstormings Culminated In Debates Inside The Legislatures Of Some Countries (as best displayed in the british parliament) !

We Know The Reality of The United Nations(UN) And Expect No Actions Taken By It !

The UK Govt. Failed To Muster Up The Requisite Mandate For Its Proposal Of A Possible Military Intervention In SYRIAN CRISIS And Thereby Shouldering Along The US Govt. !

The French President, Francoise Hollande Is The Only Person Who Is More Inclined To Contribute To Any Military Enterprise The NATO or Other International Entity Would Ponder Over As The Only Way Ahead In Punishing Assad!

Russia Is Arguably The Most Important Factor In This Strange Plus Long Drawn War And It Has Very Overtly Been Throwing Its Weight In Support of Assad And Been Harping The Same Raga That Assad Puts Forth In Defense of His Fascist Regime And That Is That There Exists A Foreign Conspiracy To Destabilise Syria And The Terrorist Organizations Like Al-Quaeda Has Got A Sizeable Foray Into This Plot !

Nearly 59% Americans Don't Wish For Any Direct Military Interventions Anywhere Let Alone Syria In Face of A Rather Prolonged Economic Malaise America Is Undergoing !

But, There Seems An Emerging View Amongst The Political Establishment That President Obama Must Go Ahead And Attack Thereby Effect The Punitive Measures Required At This Juncture And Send A Clear Signal That Such Acts of Using Chemical Weapons Shall Have Disastrous Consequences !
Both Mainstream Parties In The States Have Some Common Grounds To Think And Act In Unison! Syrian Turmoil Has Already Disturbed The Region And Poses Grave Threats To The Friendly States of America In That Region !

Obama Could Have Gone Ahead Without Any Congressional Authorization As He Did In The Case of Libya And More Importantly He Is Entitled For Such Extraordinary Situation ! Also, American History In The Postwar era suggests in favour of such presidential discretions!

Obama Is Certainly Playing Naivete And The Delays Caused Is Only Adding Insults To The Wounds !

In A Couple of Days The Final And Comprehensive Report by The UNO will come out and that will certainly bring some consensual views on these things !

DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING Jr. AND 'I HAVE A DREAM' SPEECH : BRIEF MUSINGS!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
TODAY MARKS THE 50th
ANNIVERSARY OF THE ICONIC
SPEECH, 'I HAVE A DREAM' ,
DELIVERED BY DR. MARTIN LUTHER
KING Jr. ON 28 AUGUST, 1963 IN
WASHINGTON DC !

DR. KING WAS A PHENOMENON
WHO FOUGHT FOR AN EQUAL
SPACE FOR THE COLORED PEOPLE
OF THE UNITED STATES LONG BEEN
REELING UNDER THE BURDEN OF
SLAVERY, PERSECUTION, ILL-
TREATMENT AND ALL WERE DUE TO
THE RACIAL DISCRIMINATION
PRACTISED AND WHETTED BY THE
LEGAL SYSTEM !

DR. KING WAS A GREAT ORATOR
AND DUE TO THIS SKILL HE ALWAYS
USED TO MOBILISE THE BLACKS
AND MADE THEM AWARE OF THEIR
PATHETIC PLIGHT AND APPEALED
FOR A UNITED VOICE OF PROTEST
WITHOUT RESORTING TO
VIOLENCE !

AN ARDENT VOTARY OF TRUTH
AND NON-VIOLENCE, DR. KING WAS
A ORATOR AND 'I HAVE A DREAM'
IS PRECISELY A TESTAMENT TO HIS
ERUDITION, FAITH AND HOPE !

5O YEARS GONE BY AND RACE IS
STILL ROOTED IN AMERICAN
PSYCHE,HOWSOEVER ITS EXTANT AS
WELL AS CONSEQUENCE ARE QUITE
SMALLER THAN WHAT IT WAS HALF
A CENTURY AGO !

TODAY DR. KING WOULD HAVE
SOME CHEERS TO SEE A FELLOW
BLACK OCCUPYING THE HIGHEST
CHAIR OF THE LAND !

STILL THERE REMAINS SOME
CURVED PATHS TO BE
STRAIGHTENED, PROUD
MOUNTAINS TO BE BOWED DOWN,
ROUGH LANDS TO BE MADE
PLAINS . . . .et.al !

THERE ARE IN FACT MANY DREAMS
WITHIN A DREAM AND THEIR
REALIZATION IN LETTER AND
SPIRIT SHALL BE THE PRIME
DRIVING FORCE FOR A NATION
PASSING THROUGH SOME OF ITS
TOUGHEST TIMES IN RECENT MEMORY AND SURPRISINGLY
READYING ITSELF UP FOR A STRIKE
AGAINST THE SYRIA OF BASHAR-
AL-ASAD !!

IS REALITY NOT A KIND OF DREAM
TOO ?

A LOUD READING OF THE TEXT OF
'I HAVE A DREAM' SEEMS
REDEMPTIVE OF SORTS !

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING AND PRESIDENT OBAMA AND THE AMERICAN DREAM !

DR. KING & PRES. OBAMA : DREAM
& REALITY !
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
''THERE COMES A TIME WHEN
SILENCE IS BETRAYAL !''
Dr. King
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING Jr. AND
PRESIDENT OBAMA :-
THE HERO AND HIS SELF CLAIMED
FOLLOWER !!

Shortly mr.obama wl step on the
same ground at national mall
where dr.king had had his 'i hv a
dream' speech exactly 50yrs ago
and enthralled a gathering of
nearly 250000 americans most
of
whom were job seekers, labor
unionists n people who were
desperately seeking a hike in
their
wages. . .!

50yrs have passed and
coincidently today there is a
huge
dearth of jobs n burgeoning
unemployment n cracks in
economy !!

IT IS STILL A MATTER OF GREAT
INTEREST,RATHER DEBATE
WHETHER THAT SPECIFIC HISTORIC
DREAM OF DR.KING IS MORE
ACUTELY
FELT NOW, FOR THE AMERICAN
DREAM IS
PASSING THROUGH ITS LEAN PHASE
AND THE RESULTANT GROWING
DISCONTENT IS TAKING A
WIDESPREAD MANIFESTATIONS IN
FORMS OF PROTESTS MARCHS OR
OCCUPY MOVEMENTS !!

THE DREAM IS YET TO BE FULFILLED
IN ITS ENTIRETY EVEN IN MATTERS
NON-ECONOMIC IN NATURE!!

A NATION,RIGHTLY or WRONGLY,
OFTEN, LIVES IN
SYMBOLISM AND THE MOST SELF
GRATIFYING SYMBOL TODAY IS THE
CURRENT US PRESIDENT WHO
HIMSELF HAILS FROM DR. KING'S
COMMUNITY AND UNDOUBTEDLY
STANDS TALL PLUS MIGHTY ON
DR.KING'S DREAM OF A TIME AND A
MINDSET WHEN A HUMAN BEING
WILL BE JUDGED NOT ON THE
BASIS
OF HIS/HER COLOR ,BUT ON
CONTENTS OF HIS/HER
CHARACTER !!

SYMBOLICALLY THAT DREAM HAS
GOT SOME OUNCES OF CHEERS ,
BUT PRACTICALLY IT FACES MANY A
VALLEY OF DESPAIR !!

HOPE IS A GREAT CONSOLATION
AND A TIME TESTED SHORT TERM
PLACEBO. . .!

So, Let There Be Hope. . .

Free At Last,
Thank Almighty !!

LET THE RING OF FREEDOM ECHO
EVERYWHERE !!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

FAMOUS LINES FROM DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING'S ICONIC SPEECH, 'I HAVE A DREAM' !

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

'WE ARE THE TIME :: WE ARE THE FAMOUS' -a poem by JORGE LUIS BORGES !

We are the time. We are the famous
metaphor from Heraclitus the Obscure.

We are the water, not the hard diamond,
the one that is lost, not the one that stands still.

We are the river and we are that greek
that looks himself into the river. His reflection
changes into the waters of the changing mirror,
into the crystal that changes like the fire.

We are the vain predetermined river,
in his travel to his sea.
The shadows have surrounded him.

Everything said goodbye to us, everything goes away.

Memory does not stamp his own coin.

However, there is something that stays
however, there is something that bemoans.

Born In Paris And Raised Largely In And Around of The Polish Town of Krakow, Polanski Had To Witness The Disturbing World Under The Rise of Nazism and The World War-II That Took Away His Mother's Life In The Camp At Auschwitz And The Incarceration of His Father With Whom He Fortunately Reunited While Still An Adolescent And Most Importantly The Macabre World of Terror , Evil n Violence That Became A Recurring Theme In His Movies Culminated Plus Perfected In His Masterpiece, THE PIANIST (2002) -an academy winning film which is unanimously considered as his best rendition as well as which is hailed as One of The Most Original Plus Brutally Honest Cinematic Versions Of The Holocaust And The Psychological Damage Ensued Thereafter !

SAMANTHA GEIMER, The Rape Victim, Publically Extended A Forgive To Polanski And Has Written Extensively In Her Recent Book, LIFE IN THE SHADOW OF POLANSKI, On The Unfortunate Episode That Happened Sometime In 1977 At The Home of The Hollywood Actor, Jack Nicholson, While Undergoing An Audition Held By Polanski !

Polanski Had To Undergo A Few Weeks of Psychiatric Supervision And While There Has Not Been Any Final Verdict Given So Far, The Filmmaker Had Managed An Escape And Never Landed On American Soil Since Then Including During The Oscars Wherein He Was Adjudged As The Best Director and His Film The Best Movie. . .!

If We Judge An Artist Solely On The Merits or Otherwise of His/Her Works And Willingly Suspend For The Time Being Our Scrutiny of His/Her Personal Life , Then Roman Polanski Could Well Be Adjudged As One of The Greatest Filmmakers of All Time And Certainly The Greatest In Recent Times As Far As The Truthful Plus Realistic Rendition of The Underworld of The Forces of Evil In Humanity At Large Is Concerned !

POLANSKI, 80 Today, Is Living In Paris With His Very Beautiful Young Wife -a french singer, EMMANUELLE SEIGNER, And Is Still Displaying Creative Juice Unto His Limbs n Latitudes !

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, POLANSKI !

INDIA CELEBRATED ITS 67th BIRTHDAY !

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
It was raining in most parts of
India at the dawn of its 67th
Independence Day on 15 August
2013 and the clouds becoming
darker, people felt dampen and a
mood of despair was to set
soon. . . .but, the sky understood
the importance of the occasion
and there was sunshine quickly !
People celebrated the 67th
birthday of modern india with
gaiety and fervor and took the
customary pledge to protect their
motherland and would
contribute to the cause of this
nation !
The indian premier, Mr.
Manmohan Singh, spoke about
the progress this nation has
witnessed during the ten years
of his leadership.He sounded
hollow plus nonsense! He never
talked of the largest,rather the
greatest malady this nation has
suffered under his inert plus
puppet-like leadership! He spoke
only the promises his
government has been harping
on n on !
On the whole the premier’s
speech was a grand shit apt to
be thrown into some dustbin !
India’s Progress In The Last
66yrs. Of Its Independence
Stands Pale Before The Glaring
Failures !
And, Hope Is The Most Abused
Word In The Lexicon of This
Nation !
‘HOPING AGAINST HOPE’ MIGHT BE
AN APT EXPRESSION FOR
DETAILING THIS NATION’S
BIOGRAPHY !
Many Rewarding Returns of The
Day !

'LYING IN ME' -- A POEM BY ANNA AKHMATOVA !

'LYING IN ME'

by Anna Akhmatova

Lying in me, as though it were a
white
Stone in the depths of a well, is
one
Memory that I cannot, will not,
fight:
It is happiness, and it is pain.
Anyone looking straight into my
eyes
Could not help seeing it, and
could not fail
To become thoughtful, more sad
and quiet
Than if he were listening to some
tragic tale.
I know the gods changed people
into things,
Leaving their consciousness alive
and free.
To keep alive the wonder of
suffering,
You have been metamorphosed
into me.

ANNA AKHMATOVA.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Anna Akhmatova Is A Poet Who Can't Be Typified Into Some Watertight Compartment For She Writes In Many Forms And On Several Topics Ranging From Extremely Personal To Purely Public And She Displays An Uncanny Genius In Being Original In Treatment of The Subjects.

'LYING IN ME' Is A Wonderful Poem Based Upon Her Private Life or What We Might Say Her Personal Memory Of Times That Were Once Very Happier In Her Life !

In This Poem She Recalls The Man She Has Loved And Lived And Who Is No Longer In Blood & Flesh. . . .But, In Spirit Only. . . .And His Essence Is Simply Overwhelming!

The Poet Decides To Unravel Some Clothes of Mystery And Attempts To Let People Feel Through Her His Connect With The Poet Long After He Is Gone !

The Poet Outlines Her Days Spent With Her Lover As A World Inhabited With Joy & Sorrow. . . .Kind of A Tragic Episode As Her Joys Proved Shortlived And That Man Even Shorter !

She Has Not Been Able To Cast Off The Memory of Her Lover And Truly Speaking She Doesn't Intend To Do So ! She Simply Allows Herself Carry That Memory And Feels Strongly That That Essence Enters Existence For Her As The Indication Suggested By The Last Lines !

The Impact of That Loss Is So Much Overpowering That Anyone Who Comes Into Her Contact Could Easily Discern That Just By Looking Unto Her Eyes And The Resultant Effect Seems Contagious As It Gives Rise To Sadness Plus Grave Thoughtfulness To The Onlooker !

The Memory Of Love Lasts Much More Than Love Itself . . . .And, What Could Be More Tragic Than This . . . !

'THE SENTENCE' -- A POEM BY ANNA AKHMATOVA !

'THE SENTENCE'

by Anna Akhmatova
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

And the stone word fell
On my still-living breast.
Never mind, I was ready.
I will manage somehow.
Today I have so much to do:
I must kill memory once and for
all,
I must turn my soul to stone,
I must learn to live again--
Unless . . . Summer's ardent
rustling
Is like a festival outside my
window.
For a long time I've foreseen this
Brilliant day, deserted house.
|

ANNA AKHMATOVA.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

This Is A Powerful Poem By One Of The Finest Female Voices In Verse In The Modern World Literature, ANNA AKHMATOVA !

'THE SENTENCE' Is A Beautiful Poem On Memory And Amnesia!

The Speaker Says She Wishes To Stop The Flow of The Past Making The Present Very Difficult To Bear ,Yet, She Fails Many Times And Therefore Tries To Undo The Very Existence of The Past In Form of Memories As The Last Resort She Could Think Of As Useful !

But, How That Be Ever Possible : The Killing of Memories And The Turning of Soul Into Stone ?

The Speaker Is Perpetually Being Haunted By The Time Gone By And Any Attempt Whatsoever To Sanitize The Hauntings Seems Unattainable, rather Impossible !

At Last The Speaker Gets Sorts of Defeat And Is Seemingly Left With The Lamentation Meaningfully Expressed In The Last Lines !

The Last Lines Are Very Poignant :-

'I Have For Long Foreseen This : /
Brilliant Day , Deserted House .

'ABSENCE' - A POEM BY ELIZABETH JENNINGS !

'ABSENCE'

by Elizabeth Jennings

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I visited the place where we last met.
Nothing was changed, the gardens were well-tended,
The fountains sprayed their usual steady jet;
There was no sign that anything had ended
And nothing to instruct me to forget.
The thoughtless birds that shook out of the trees,
Singing an ecstasy I could not share,
Played cunning in my thoughts. Surely in these
Pleasures there could not be a pain to bear
Or any discord shake the level breeze.
It was because the place was just the same
That made your absence seem a savage force,
For under all the gentleness there came
An earthquake tremor: Fountain, birds and grass
Were shaken by my thinking of your name.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

MY MUSINGS :-

'ABSENCE' IS A LOVELY POEM BY ELIZABETH JENNINGS AND IT IS A RECOLLECTION OF PAST TIME OR FOND-MEMORIES-GONE-BY !

The Poet Revisits The Garden Where She Had Met Her Lover The Last Time And Due To A Powerful Gusts of Flashbacks She Recreates The Scenes n Sights of The Last Meet And That Is So Overpowering That She Doesn't Find Any Difference In The Physical Ambience of The Place And Declares That As The Same That She Had Felt When They Met The Last !

But, The Stupor of Love , Breaks As We Proceed Through The Poem ! The Poet Takes A Leap of Sorts When She Concludes That Everything Has Changed In Its Essence, Howsoever A Physical Scrutiny of The Meeting Ground Gives Evidences To The Contrary !

It Is The All-Pervasive Absence of The Lover That Makes All The Difference When The Poet Smells A Biting Sense of Loss And Declares The Garden Now As Merely The Ruins of The Past !
The Overwhelming Sense of This Absence of The Lover Is Compared To An Earthquake Whose Tremors Have Shattered Every Possibility of Normalcy In Sight !
The Ruins Of Past Rupture The Re-union, If Any Could Even Be Fancied For The Time Being !

PAULA DEEN AND HER FALL FROM GRACE !

PAULA DEEN,The American Celebrity Chef ,Who Has Been Ruling Over The Hearts of Millions of Americans Over A Decade Via FOOD NETWORK CHANNEL n Her Brand Outlet In Savannah, GA,USA She ought to hv come up with a strong apology via some sit-in with a Oprah or a Robin. . . . .!! That might hv been some sorts of healing her afro-american fans n allay a general disappointment amongst all who hv almost idolized her for a decade or so ! The outrageous admittance of using racial epithets and the inhuman tolerance of racial slurs plus jokes around her place for such a longtime, is bound to hv its toll, howsoever the majority at social media has been going soft on her n even appealing for the renewal of Mrs. Deen's contract with the Food Network !! The damage has already been done n the only retrieve for her is to go and try to placate the sheer sense of shock her fans are feeling post her confession ! Redemption Is All Within One's Reach If There Appears Some Inkling of Divine Intervention Even Remote In Sight !!

THREE LOVE POEMS OF PABLO NERUDA ON HIS 109th BIRTHDAY !

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
(1.) Sonnet XXV.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Before I loved you, love, nothing was my own:
I wavered through the streets, among
Objects:
Nothing mattered or had a name:
The world was made of air, whichwaited.
I knew rooms full of ashes,
Tunnels where the moon lived,
Rough warehouses that growled 'get lost',
Questions that insisted in the sand.
Everything was empty, dead, mute,
Fallen abandoned, and decayed:
Inconceivably alien, it all
Belonged to someone else - to no one:
Till your beauty and your poverty
Filled the autumn plentiful with gifts.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

(2.) LOVE.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Love.
Because of you, in gardens of blossoming
Flowers I ache from the perfumes of spring.
I have forgotten your face, I no longer
Remember your hands; how did your lips
Feel on mine?
Because of you, I love the white statues
Drowsing in the parks, the white statues that
Have neither voice nor sight.
I have forgotten your voice, your happy voice;
I have forgotten your eyes.
Like a flower to its perfume, I am bound to
My vague memory of you. I live with pain
That is like a wound; if you touch me, you will
Make to me an irreperable harm.
Your caresses enfold me, like climbing
Vines on melancholy walls.
I have forgotten your love, yet I seem to
Glimpse you in every window.
Because of you, the heady perfumes of
Summer pain me; because of you, I again
Seek out the signs that precipitate desires:
Shooting stars, falling objects.”

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

(3.) I DO NOT LOVE YOU
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.
I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.
I love you without knowing how,or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way than this:
where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

'LOVE' : a poem by CZESLAW MILOSZ, Eminent Polish Poet n Nobel-Laureate !

LOVE.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

(a poem by Czeslaw Milosz).
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Love means to learn to look at yourself
The way one looks at distant things
for you are only one thing among many,
And whoever sees that way heals his heart,
Without knowing it, from various ills --
A bird and a tree say to him: Friend.
Then he wants to use himself andthings
So that they stand in the glow of ripeness.
It doesn't matter whether he knows what he serves:
Who serves best doesn't always understand.

PAULA DEEN,THE CELEBRITY CHEF, WINDS UP HER CAREER DISGRACEFULLY !

PAULA DEEN : FALL FROM GRACE !!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

PAULA DEEN,The American Celebrity Chef ,Who Has Been Ruling Over The Hearts of Millions of Americans Over A Decade Via FOOD NETWORK CHANNEL n Her Brand Outlet In Savannah, GA,USA, Has Sullied Her Image -probably for once n for all !
Thanks to her acceptance during a recent chat that she has had some involvements with racial discrimination for she used to coin racial epithets n had let such racial slurs be allowed at her workplace !

Paula Deen Has Long Been Hailed As A Very Potent Plus Popular Icon In The Art of Cuisine and Has A Great Reach Into The Homes of Millians With Her Recommendations for Recipe, Her Endorsements of Brands , Her Talks on the Food Channel and her own Savannah,ga !

All seem to be in jeopardy !
Her deal with the said tv channel was to be renewed at this month's end ,which appears very unlikely and that would be a major blow to her persona n patronage!

She has not tendered a strong apology so far, albeit she offered it more privately !

Her business will be going great still, yet, that wl not be able to bring her charisma back !

Whenever her name will crop up in future, this episode wl have a substantial impact over that and she wl,despite her great fame so far,be remembered as someone tainted or someone who fell from the grace and did nothing of repairs !

She ought to hv come up with a strong apology via some sit-in with a Oprah or a Robin. . . .

'TRY TO PRAISE THE MUTILATED WORLD' -A POEM BY ADAM ZAGAJEWSKI !

'TRY TO PRAISE THE MUTILATED WORLD'
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Try to praise the mutilated
world.
Remember June’s long days,
and wild strawberries, drops of
wine, the dew.
The nettles that methodically
overgrow
the abandoned homesteads of
exiles.
You must praise the mutilated
world.
You watched the stylish yachts
and ships;
one of them had a long trip
ahead of it,
while salty oblivion awaited
others.
You’ve seen the refugees
heading nowhere,
You’ve heard the executioners
sing joyfully.
You should praise the mutilated
world.
Remember the moments when
we were together
in a white room and the curtain
fluttered.
Return in thought to the
concert where music flared.
You gathered acorns in the park
in autumn
and leaves eddied over the
earth's scars.
Praise the mutilated world
and the gray feathers a thrush
lost,
and the gentle light that strays
and vanishes
and returns.

Adam Zagajewski.

A POEM OF THE POLISH POET,ADAM ZAGAJEWSKI !

'IN STRANGE TOWNS'
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
for Zbigniew Herbert
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

In strange towns there is an
unknown joy,
the cold bliss of a new glance.
Yellow-plastered tenements
where the sun
climbs like a nimble spider
exist, yet not for me. Not for me
are the town-hall,
port, jail, and courthouse built.
The sea flows through the town
in a salty
tide, sinking cellars and verandas.
At a street market, pyramids of
apples
stand for the eternity of one
afternoon.
And even suffering isn’t really
mine; a local idiot mumbles
in a foreign tongue, and the
despair of a lonely
girl in a café resembles a patch
of canvas in a poorly lit museum.
Huge flags of trees flutter as in
familiar places,
and pieces of the same lead-
weights
are sewn to the hems of sheets,
and to dreams,
and to imagination, which is
homeless and wild.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

By- Adam Zagajewski. (1989).

Translated by Renata Gorczynski
and Benjamin Ivry

FEDERICO GARCIA LORCA, One of the greatest spanish poets and playwrights of the last century (some critics say Lorca as The Greatest Spanish Poet of 20th-Cent.) ,Was born this day,June 05, 1898 In Fuente, Vaquaros,Spain , In a wealthy family of a liberal landowner and a pianist (Lorca's mother was an accomplished pianist and The Poet had a great attachment with her and that helped him gain a rather early exposure to music which was to come in handy when he had started composing poetry in his early 20s and made his poem very lyrical . .) .

Lorca After His Fame Due To The Gypsy Ballads, Went To New York For Further Study At Columbia University, But Returned Just After A Year or So!He Observed The Citadel of Capitalism,NY And Had Penned Some Poems as well as Prose Pieces On His Stay There!

He Had Enthusiastically Supported The Republicans During The Spanish Civil War And Remained Very Critical of The Nationalist Forces .This Had Cost His Life!

Lorca's Death Remains A Mystery As The Poet Who Never Shied Away From Expressing His Radical Political Views That Had Enraged The Nationalists Endlessly Resulting In The Imprisonment and Murder of The Poet!

His Grave Is Not Located As No Records Certain Regarding The Disposal of The Dead Body Of Lorca After Been Pumped Bullets In Some Deserted Area !

By The Early 1970s , Lorca's Works Were Translated In Many Languages And His Place In The Pantheon of Literary Masters Of The World Got Fixed And Today Lorca Is Hailed As One of The Finest Lyrical Poets In The World Literature!

for the worm of my despair.

if I am a dog, and you alone my master,
never let me lose what I have gained,
and adorn the branches of your river
with leaves of my estranged Autumn.''
