MAXIM GORKY, One of the finest
storywriters in modern world
literature,was born this day on
March 28 in 1868 in The Russian
Empire!
A prolific author who wrote good
deals of Novels,Novellas
,Shortstories,dramas and Memoirs during
his four decades of active literary
life!
His novel, 'MOTHER' is a treasure to
the world literature and remains
sort of a SACRED TEXT for radicals n
revolutionaries around the
world !
Rarely a book has ever
depicted the pathos n penury, the
ideals n idioms of people who are
revolutionaries !
Leading a rather vagabound type
life for most of his early life as he
had lost both mother n father
before he could have had his own
senses of life, Gorky got himself
well acquainted with the lives of
the poors,the destitutes,the
orphans or what we could term as
THE UNDERDOGS OF SOCIETY whose
fate seemed permanently
entwined with the margins of
society !
Gorky was like the greatest novelist
of all time,FYODOR DOSTOEVSKY, in
terms of sketching lives of the
people who belong to the lower
stratum of society(of course
Gorky's canvas was smaller than
that of Dostoevsky.).
A political activist almost all
through his life,MAXIM GORKY could
well fit in the Sartre's Type of
AUTHOR-ACTIVIST .
Gorky,though, avoided direct
participation in the mainstream
politics,had kept close rapport to
the Socialist Wing and its top
leaders like Lenin n Stalin.
In short,we could be safe to say
that Gorky was much as a moral
force than political one behind the
radical upheavals and later the
Bolshevik Revolution!
He was also a fearless author who
didn't hesitate when it had come
to criticise people like Lenin or
Stalin.
Like All Sensible Socialists,Gorky
too had become hugely
disappointed after the Socialists
came in power !
He died in 1936, at 68 due to complications
of tuberculosis.

Having failed to find any buyer of
his poems,he had decided to sail
across the atlantic and with his
wife and children, Robert Frost
came to ENGLAND in 1912 .

1000 DEAD DUCKS FOUND FLOATING IN NANHE RIVER IN CHINA !

After the dead pigs,now it is the
turn for dead ducks floating in a
chinese river!
CHINA DAILY reports that the
chinese authority has confirmed
they have pulled out 1000 dead
ducks from the Nanhe river at
Pengshan County Of The
Southwest Chinese province of
Shinchuan! It also reports citing
the confirmation by the chinese
officials overseeing the fishing of
the Ducks’ Carcasses that all the
dead ducks have been pulled out
and there is not any concerns of
human or water infections.
March has been quite a month of
unusual madness in china as the
first week saw an unusual
dumping of THOUSANDS OF DEAD
PIGS in Huangpu river near
central Shanghai and it took
quite a good deal of time in
fishing those dead pigs whose
numbers is believed to be more
than 16 000 ! And, Now It is
ducks’ dumping in a summer
dried up river of NANHE !
WHY PEOPLE DUMP DEAD PIGS AND
DUCKS IN RIVERS? There has not
been any answer so far !
Chinese authorities were
reported by the local residents of
PENGSHAN about the rotten
ducks wrapped up in plastic
bags floating in the Nanhe
river.As per the official
sources,there were around 60
plastic woven bags containing
the duck-carcasses and some of
them(ducks) were almost
decomposed!
Dead ducks were lime washed
and later buried deep under the
ground in a designated area and
any actual findings have not
been scrutinized or not been
possible if we go by what the
authority had to say on this !
The said river was nearly dry due
to the summer and its water is
not used,unlike in the case of
Huangpu river, for drinking
purpose!
No possible damage to people or
the surroundings as has been
briefed !
Whatever the officials say,one
can’t suppress the sense of panic
and the impact these incidents
have on the health of the
environment !!

The cause of his death is not clear so far.His family released a short message confirming the demise of the world renown writer and described him,apart from a literary giant,a beloved family man.
There has been no further details released and the family sought privacy instead.
Born on November 16, 1930 in the rural southeastern part of Nigeria,Ibidi, Achebe had struggled hard to get himself educated ,first at a far off school named St. Philip's School and later in Government High School and University at Ibedan.
After having had a rather good education he came to the capital city of Lagos in search of a job and ultimately got one as a broadcaster in the Nigerian Broadcasting Service .
He worked there for more than six years and had found love interest in a fellow worker,Christine whom he married and they had four children.
Achebe wrote a novel and sent it to some publishers in London through a londoner who had come to Lagos and visited the Nigerian Radio Service.
In London his manuscript got rejected at many offices and was labeled as a Joke rather than writing stuff worthy to be published.
Chinua Achebe Wrote His First Published Novel Titled 'THINGS FALL APART' In 1958 And He Became A Sensation In Literary World And His Book Started Selling Like Hot Cakes !

In what could well be termed as
an 'UNUSUAL FISHING' ,
authorities in Shanghai have had
a field day as they were trying to
get the dead bodies of pigs out
of the mainstream of river
HUANGPU after having come to
know that as many as 3000 dead
pigs left rotting n floating in the
big river that caters drinking
waters to a great number of
nearly 20millions people of
Shanghai !
The news broke after the
localites and people living nearby
the Huangpu river exposed to a
foul smell emanating from the
river and later found the dead
pigs floating in the river,have
complained to the local
authorities who swung into
action.
Monday has been a hectic day for
the authorities as they have
deployed a dozen boats to net
the carcasses of the white pigs
all along the parts of the river
nearly 4okm far off central
Shanghai.
So far it is reported that nearly
2800 dead pigs have been fished
out and some samples were
taken for examination in order to
arrive at some conclusion
regarding the reason behind
such large scale swine-deaths!
There is no clarity regarding the
cause and the source of such
incident and medical teams
deployed are investigating into
the possible cause of these
swine-deaths.
One report of a medical
examination has suggested the
existence of PORCINE CIRCOVIRUS
in the dead bodies of a few
swines,not all.It is said that the
Circovirus is a common finds in
pigs and they don't pose any
threat to humans!
A conjecture,not any authorised
findings,says that the source of
these dead swines might be the
nearby province of Zhejiang
where farmers might have
dumped the dead bodies after
swines were exposed to various
diseases and died thereof !
The said river is the main source
for drinking waters to a 20m
people living in Shanghai and
these people are living in fear of
some possible contamination of
water! Authorities after
scrutinizing samples of the river
water have tried to allay people's
fear by saying that the water is
still safe and there has been no
signs of any foulings or
contamination !
