“These woods are lovely, dark
and deep,/
But I have promises to keep,/
And miles to go before I sleep,/
And miles to go before I sleep.”/

Robert Frost.

Robert Lee Frost, american
poet, was born on march 26 in
1874 in San Francisco,CA,USA. He
is universally regarded as one of
the most popular poets of
English Language.His poems
show his deep understanding of
common people's lives in totality.

Robert Frost's life was full of
upheavals that markedly shaped
his poetry,especially,in his later
phase.

Born to a family of Scotish and
British Descents,Frost didn't have
a happy early life as he lost his
father when he was merely 12
and under financial strain ,had to
move to his maternal grandpa's
house in Massachusetts , along
with his mother and an elder
sister.

He got his early education
in Lawrance High School and
joined Dartmouth College for
further studies which he couldn't
complete and had to return back
home and joined his mother's
school as a teacher and taught
very unruly classes wondering
how his mother would have
dealt with such classes for quite
a longtime(his mother was a
teacher at a local school and due
to her declining health she had
to leave and asked her son to
step in her shoes.).

Robert Frost used to compose
poems from an early age and
had had his poem published by a
popular New York Magazine.
But,overall,he couldn't get any
positive sign from any publishers
for his poems and became
hugely disappointed.

Frost married his high school
sweetheart,ELINOR WHITE and
settled at a farm in New
Hampshire ,where he wrote
several poems depicting the lives
in a countryside.

Having failed to find any buyer of
his poems,he had decided to sail
across the atlantic and with his
wife and children, Robert Frost
came to ENGLAND in 1912 .

THAT BOLD DECISION MADE ALL
THE DIFFERENCE AND ROBERT
FROST BECAME AN
INTERNATIONAL POET AFTER TWO
VOLUMES OF HIS POEMS
PUBLISHED IN LONDON WITHIN
TWO YEARS !

literatti of England as well as
America. He return after the
World War broke out and found
himself in fame plus glory back in
his homeland.

MOUNTAIN INTERVAL, NEW
HAMPSHIRE, THE WITNESS TREE, A
FURTHER RANGE are some of his
finest creations.

Frost won a record Four Pulitzer
Prize And got nearly 44 honorary
degrees from around the world.

He was sort of an unnamed POET
LAUREATE OF THE USA and was
asked to recite his poem at JOHN
F KENNEDY'S Inauguration.

He also visited
Brazil,England,USSR,France as
Goodwill Ambassador !

His later life was full of tragedies
as he lost his wife, his daughter,
and his son committed
suicide,his one daughter and his
sister gone insane n
institutionalized for rest of their
lives!

All these had a profound impact
upon Frost's psyche which finally
made it to his poems. And,we find
an unusual sombre n dark tone
in his late poems.

Robert Frost died on January 29,
1963 at the age of 86 and due to
complications of a Prostate
surgery. His body was interred
near his home in
Vermont,VIRGINIA,where he used
to have had his summer
teachings.

ROBERT FROST'S POPULARITY
COULD BE IMAGINED BY THE FACT
THAT ALMOST EVERYWHERE HIS
POEMS INVARIABLY ARE PRESENT
IN HIGH SCHOOL TEXTBOOK OF
ENGLISH !
