CHINUA ACHEBE, THE WORLD FAMED NIGERIAN AUTHOR, DIED AT 82 !

REST IN PEACE, CHINUA ACHEBE, THE DOYEN OF AFRICAN LITERATURE AND RECIPIENT OF SEVERAL AWARDS WORLDWIDE !

The grandfather of african literature and author of numerous internationally acclaimed books,CHINUA ACHEBE, died on thursday in a hospital in Boston,Mass.(USA).He was 82 and had been hospitalised for a couple of days.

The cause of his death is not clear so far.His family released a short message confirming the demise of the world renown writer and described him,apart from a literary giant,a beloved family man.
There has been no further details released and the family sought privacy instead.

Born on November 16, 1930 in the rural southeastern part of Nigeria,Ibidi, Achebe had struggled hard to get himself educated ,first at a far off school named St. Philip's School and later in Government High School and University at Ibedan.

After having had a rather good education he came to the capital city of Lagos in search of a job and ultimately got one as a broadcaster in the Nigerian Broadcasting Service .
He worked there for more than six years and had found love interest in a fellow worker,Christine whom he married and they had four children.

Achebe wrote a novel and sent it to some publishers in London through a londoner who had come to Lagos and visited the Nigerian Radio Service.

In London his manuscript got rejected at many offices and was labeled as a Joke rather than writing stuff worthy to be published.

THINGS FALL APART sold over 12 Millions And Translated Into Over 50 Languages !

This Novel Remains The Best Book On Africa And It Is Prescribed At School Levels In USA, UK and In many countries !

It is also a staple for understanding african literature in faculties across Universities worldover!
