PANDIT RAVI SHANKAR ,THE LEGENDARY MUSICIAN AND SITAR-MAESTRO,HAS PASSED AWAY !HE WAS 92.
Today Is A Very Very Sad Day For Music Lovers Around The Globe As The Legendary Sitar Maestro, PANDIT RAVI SHANKAR HAS DIED !
He was 92 and admitted at Scripps Hospital, San Diego,CA,USA Where he had his heart valve replacement surgery a couple of days ago.Doctors said the surgery was successful,but,the recovery couldn't materialize due to the extreme fragile health of the musician.
He is survived by his second wife,daughters Anoushka Shankar n Norah Jones,four grandchildren and other family members.
With His Demise A Glorious Chapter In Music Has Come To An End ! Pandit Ravi Shankar Got A Maddenning Following In The West And Had Made The United States His Second Home.He Hit The International Acclaim During The Late 50s n 60s Of The Last Century.He Had Mentored And Helped The Beatles,especially,GOERGE HARRISON, In Acquainting Them In The Classical Indian Music.
Pandit Ravi Shankar Was The Best Ambassador Of The Indian Classical Music To The West And Had Extensively Toured Several European Cities n That Of North America Giving Riveting Performances That Would Sweep The Audiences Off Their Feet And Transport Them Into A Different World !
Panditjee Was Also An Eminent Innovator As He Had Fused Many Elements Of The Southern Indian Music, Technically Called 'CARNATIC MUSIC' , With The North Indian Music,Technically Known As 'HINDUSTANI MUSIC' And Had Brought Out A Rather Totally Original Music Altogether. He ,Throughout His Life, Tried To Fuse Features Of The Western Music And The Indian Music !
He Got The Highest Indian Civilian Award,The BHARAT-RATNA ( JEWELOF INDIA) In 1999.Panditjee Also Won Three GRAMMYs n Numerous Other Awards For His Matchless Contribution To The Music Arena.
His Two Daughters From Two Marriages, NORAH JONES n ANOUSHKA SHANKAR, Are Also Internationally Recognized Musicians And GRAMMYs Awardee!
Panditjee's Death Has Put An End To An Era Highly Rich In Classical Music !
