Rilke Is Unanimously Considered As One Of The Greatest Lyrical Poets Of The Last Century And Certainly The GREATEST German Lyrical Poet !
Born On December 4 , 1875 In Prague, Rilke Started Composing Poems Since The Age Of Nineteen, However With Little Appreciation From The Literary Circle .
Rilke Had To Spend Much Of His Childhood In Loneliness As His Parents Seperated When Rilke Was Only Nine And That Sense Of Alienation And Sadness Had Had A Considerable Impact Upon His Later Life And Works.
He Had A Fine Grip Over Poetry and Prose As His Writings Have A Musical Touch And That Is What He Has Always Be Held In Great Esteem.Rilke's Mature Works Appeared After His Trip To Russia With Lou Salome,a senior lady who helped and encouraged Rilke to write.He met Tolstoy and other artists in Russia And Was Highly Impressed With The Russian Culture.After Returning From Russia, He Produced Two Notable Poetry Books Namely, THE BOOK OF HOURS and THE BOOK OF IMAGES .Rilke Also Penned A Story book, STORIES OF GOD -- largely influenced by Tolstoy's Mysticism.
Rilke Was Sort Of A Dissatisfied Soul And He Kept Exploring People n Places All Through His Life.For Him, Having Memories Of Things Are Not The Only Important Part In Creation, But, That Memories Must Be Erased And This Erasing Comes Only When A Creative Soul Depicts Them Into A Piece Of Art In Its Entirety With The Help Of His Experiences !

He Had Worked As The Secretary To The Renown French Painter,AUGUSTE RODIN and Had Married One Of Rodin's Disciples,CLARA WOSTHOF .He Had Numerous Affairs But All Were Shortlived .
It Is Said That Rilke Used To Court A Lady And Then Wrote Love Letters And When The Beloved Came Too Near, Rilke Started To Move Away !

Rilke Died At The Age Of 51 In Switzerland Where He Had Been Living In A Castle Given Free By A Countess Of Thurn.Rilke Died Of Leukeimia.
