EMINENT BENGALI POET AND NOVELIST, SUNIL GANGOPADHYAY,IS NO MORE !

THE DOYEN OF MODERN BENGALI LITERATURE,MR. SUNIL GANGOPADHYAY BREATHED HIS LAST TODAY MORNING!
THE EMINENT BENGALI AUTHOR WHO WAS AN AUTHORITY ON MODERNISM IN INDIAN LITERATURE,HAS PASSED AWAY THIS MORNING!HE WAS 78.HE DIED OF A MASSIVE CARDIAC ARREST.HE DIED AT HIS SOUTH KOLKATTA RESIDENCE.HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE AND HIS SON.
HE WAS A LEGENDARY NOVELIST WHO WROTE BRILLIANTLY ON THE PARTITION OF INDIA AND OTHER VOLUMINOUS NOVELS.HE ALSO HAD A FINE SENSE OF POETRY COMPOSITION.
A sad sad day for the literary world as he was ,apart from a stalwart in modern post independent indian literature,a great motivator to the younger generation of poets and novelists!
He had founded a famous bengali literary magazine, 'KRITTIBAS' , fornew experimental poets.
'THE FIRST LIGHT' Has Gone Forever !

'THE FIRST LIGHT' and 'EAST n WEST' are his monumental works.
He examined the people's plight in post partition era and tried to see the biggest ever mass exodus in human history(the partition of India in 1947) from the eyes of people of both sides .
He once remarked that poetry was his first love and had penned several anthologies of poetry.His Love Poems Addressed To The Heroine,NEERA, Are His Fine Poems.
His Demise Has Created A Deep Void In Bengali And Indian Literature!

He Is Reportedly Credited With An Authorship of More Than 200 Books.
Many of his short stories and novels were adapted for cinema by the legendary film maker,Mr.SATYAJ EET RAY and Gautam Ghosh.
He was leading the highest national institution for overseeingthe progress and development of indian literature of all the 22 recognized indian languages and awarding one author from each of the languages every year.
His Death Is Being Deeply Mourned In India !
