THE AUSPICIOUS OCCASION OF
'KUMBH MELA' !
This Religious Gatherings Of
Hindus For The SACRED BATH or
HOLY DIP In The Ganges And
Yamuna Rivers' Joint , Is
Organised Every Three Years At
One Of The Four Sacred Hindu
Pilgrimage Places Namely, UJJAIN,
NASIK, HARIDWAR and
ALLAHABAD.

This Ritualistic River Dip Is Laden
Heavily With Symbolism Derived
From Hindu Mythology And Meant
For The Cleanising Of People's
Soul Of All The Mortal Sins And
Make Them Pure All Over Again.

According To The Hindu
Mythology, Once There Began A
Fierce Battle Between Gods and
Demons Over A Pitcher/Pot Full Of
The Nectar(the immortality
potion) And Amongst Gods,LORD
VISHNU changed himself into a
very beautiful n enchanting
dancing diva by magical power
and arouse carnal desire in the
fighting demons through her
spell of charm n beauty and
somehow managed to take hold
of that pitcher and fled
away. . . . . . . . .and finally
deposited that pot in the
kingdom of Gods. . . . .during
such running away with the
pitcher,it is believed,FOUR DROPS
OF THAT IMMORTALITY POTION
FELL UPON THE EARTH AT FOUR
PLACES. . .and,since then this
Kumbh(pitcher full of liquid) Mela
Has Been Held At These Four
Places of Nasik,Haridwar,Ujjain n
Allahabad !

The Old City Of PRAYAG
(now,ALLAHABAD) Has A Rather
Larger Importance And The
Sacred Bath Organised Here Every
12yrs. Is Considered More
Religiously Effective Than The
Other Three Cities Of India.

As Per Planetery Cycle,This Year
Assumes Vast Importance As
Such Timings Occur Once In
144yrs. !These Things Are
Exclusively Determined By Hindu
Calender As Has Been In Vogue
For More Than 2000yrs. !
The Last Such Occasion Occurred
In 2001 At Allahabad And On The
Day Of The Most Sacred Bath(In
Hindi It Is Called 'SHAHI-SNAAN'
which may be termed as 'ROYAL
BATH' ),There Were Around 40
Million People Had Bathed(in a
single day!) And, THAT'S A WORLD
RECORDS OF SORTS FOR THE
LARGEST HUMAN GATHERING AT A
PLACE IN A SINGLE DAY!!

This Year,It Is Being Expected To
Be Near 35 Million People On The
Royal Bathing Day Which Falls
This Year On February 10.

This Fair Will Go On For Almost
Two Months (55 days,including
today).
More Than 30 000 Policemen Are
On Patrol Round The Clock And
Various Technical Support
Systems Are Being Harnessed For
Monitoring People's Movements
And To Deal With Any Untoward
Incidents !

Thousands Of Foreigners Come
To Have A Look n Feel Of This
Fair!

Indian Daily,THE TELEGRAPH) Of
The Nobel-Laureate
Economist,JOSEPH STIGLITZ along
with his wife on the bank of The
Ganges In Allahabad.
